Friday 5/29/2015 - Sunday 5/31/2015
7:30 pm - 1:00 pm
Caregiving involves us in other people’s stories. Together we will explore how writing can help caregivers process their own experiences, help those for whom they are caring articulate their stories, and open new avenues of reflection on the life of body and spirit. The weekend will include periods of quiet reflection, writing, sharing, and group discussion. The main retreat starts on Friday at 7:30 pm.
Starting on Friday at 3:00 pm through dinner, there is an optional pre-conference writing workshop entitled, Writing as a Spiritual Practice. Marilyn will be providing ways to connect writing practices with prayer, centering, meditation and spiritual reading. Dinner as a group will offer an opportunity for those attending this optional writing workshop to continue sharing your writing experiences. Please note: There is an additional fee of $40 for this optional workshop, which includes dinner. If you want to come to both the weekend workshop and the optional pre-conference workshop, you must register for the combined option below.
The weekend program meets the qualifications for 12 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs and LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. These CEUs will be available for an additional fee of $25 payable at the event.
Marilyn McEntyre, Ph.D., teaches medical humanities in the UC Berkeley-UCSF Joint Medical Program, and is a fellow at the Gaede Institute for the Liberal Arts at Westmont College and a hospice volunteer.
