Sunday 5/7/2017 - Tuesday 5/9/2017
7:30 pm - 4:00 pm
Part 1 represents the first portion of the five-day writing retreat: Working with What is Given.
This retreat is a time to explore life writing. Autobiography, memoir, and legacy letters can be an avenue of significant spiritual exploration and growth. The workshops this week will focus on a variety of approaches to and purposes for life writing. Each session will introduce a particular challenge that commonly occurs in working with one’s own life story and ways of meeting that challenge with inventiveness, honesty, clarity of intention, and grace. As time allows, participants will be encouraged to share short portions of their work for group editing and reflection. Individual coaching available.
Part 1: Repossessing the Past (Sunday evening through Tuesday afternoon)
This Part focuses on the idea that memoir is not an inventory or a march through time, but a creative way of reframing and reclaiming what life has given us, giving it new shape and discovering new meaning in old news. This session will offer approaches to that spiritually invigorating work.
After Part 1 you may optionally attend the Wednesday Retreat Day led by Marilyn, entitled Word, Body, Spirit. This day can be added on to either Part 1 or Part 2.
If you wish to stay overnight on Tuesday, May 9th and attend the Wednesday Retreat Day, including lunch, the additional cost would be $105, which includes Tuesday night dinner, Wednesday breakfast and lunch, and shared overnight accommodations on Tuesday night. If you are interested in this add-on, please select the appropriate program fee as noted below.
