This month’s retreat topic is:

How Life Rises Up To Meet Us:  Working mindfully with synchronicity.

We have all had an experience where two things happened together in a way that felt significant.  This experience of a “meaningful coincidence” is called a synchronicity, and while sometimes this may feel trivial  (like, “Just a coincidence”), at other times it may feel highly significant, for example, when it comes at a crossroads moment in our lives and seems to offer guidance on a possible way forward.   While we cannot make synchronicities happen, we can become more attentive to them when they do.  In this afternoon mini-retreat we will learn how the cultivation of mindfulness can help us to recognize and work with synchronicities in a way that enriches our spiritual life.

A half-day, Sunday afternoon retreat in Mindfulness Meditation with Radhule Weininger, to create a refuge for calming the mind, opening the heart and finding peace with ourselves and others through gently guided meditations, including Metta (Loving-kindness) meditation. All are welcome, those with a practice and beginners.

Mindfulness helps to cultivate dual awareness of both our inner state of mind and heart and the awareness of the world in front of us. This practice helps to increase inner calm and self-knowing, as well as more balance and skillfulness concerning our interactions with others. Metta meditation helps develop “exquisite empathy” which is a heartfelt, well-boundaried, sensitively attuned and highly present way of being with ourselves and others. Through this practice we can develop our innate self-compassion and compassion for others.

There will be an opportunity for practicing sitting and walking meditation as well as Metta/Lovingkindness meditation. We often speak of mindfulness not only as bare attention but as affectionate attention. Woven into it is an orientation towards kindness and seeing deeply into the nature of things, which invites us to see how all is interconnected.
